Hey Andi!
This article almost brought me to tears.
Because this was my childhood. I skipped my convocation because I was insecure that my family wouldn’t show up.
I often came home to an empty household, even as a child. Oftentimes, I didn’t have dinner to eat and I would just pop a frozen pizza in the microwave.
I don’t have a relationship with my sibling because our parents fostered an unloving environment. We went our separate ways.
Even though I’m an adult now, I find myself seeking validation from them at times. Our relationship has slightly improved since becoming an adult, but they’re still stuck in their ways.
Thank you so so much for writing this. Your daughter is already lucky to have you. Having all these experiences will just make you a stronger parent in the end. ❤
